Independent expertise when complex projects need clarity.

For investors, developers, company leaders, and public and institutional clients

Frank-Michael Adam supports investors, developers, company leaders, and public and institutional clients with critical decisions in complex construction, industrial and infrastructure projects. He combines technical assessment with commercial and organisational considerations and, for international projects, the institutional context.

The right questions. Before the next decision.

Before committing capital, when a project reaches a critical stage, or when you need an independent perspective: the starting point is the decision you have to make.

01Before you investStrategic Technical Due DiligenceAssess technical risks, the condition of existing assets and viable options before investing or continuing a project.

You gain clarity on which technical assumptions are sound, which risks matter to your decision and which questions need to be resolved before you take the next step.

02When a project reaches a critical stageExecutive Project ReviewClarify causes, assess existing expert reports and prioritise the next steps when a project runs into difficulty.

When a project runs into difficulty, the causes of the problems, existing expert reports and conflicting technical opinions are assessed independently. You receive prioritised technical measures and reasoned recommendations for the next steps, including remedial work during ongoing operations and warranty matters.

03When decisions cross bordersInternational Senior AdvisoryBring together the technical, commercial and institutional aspects of international projects to support your decision.

When international projects combine technical, commercial and institutional questions, I advise the responsible decision-makers personally and independently. The focus is on project preparation, cost and risk issues, options for action, and coordination across existing project teams, specialist partners and institutions.

02

How we work together

  1. 01

    Define the decision

In our initial conversation, we clarify the decision you need to make, the current project position and the scope of the assessment.

  2. 02

    Examine the evidence

I review your project documents and existing expert reports, clarify outstanding questions with those involved and carry out on-site investigations where needed.

  3. 03

    Assess findings and options

You receive an independent assessment of technical risks, conflicting opinions and possible courses of action, with clear priorities.

  4. 04

    Discuss recommendations

We discuss which recommendations matter for your next decision. You receive the results in the agreed format.

Depending on the assignment, you receive a written expert assessment, a concise evaluation with prioritised recommendations, or another agreed deliverable. I discuss the key findings and recommendations with you personally. Scope, timing and format are agreed at the outset.

Selected projects and their outcomes.

Resuming construction, assessing technical risks, developing international projects: three assignments show how independent advice supports decisions.

Aquapark Dushanbe

Strategic Technical Due Diligence

For the City of Dushanbe, Adam assessed a long-stalled aquapark construction project: the condition of existing structures and equipment, outstanding work, and the technical, commercial and contractual conditions for proceeding.

The outcome

The assessment informed the city’s decision to hold a new competition. Adam subsequently helped revise the tender requirements.

Elbphilharmonie Hamburg

Executive Project Review

Before key warranty periods expired, Frank-Michael Adam assessed technical risks at the operating Elbphilharmonie for SPIE. As an independent construction expert and Senior Advisor, he investigated fire-stopping systems, hotel showers and the Plaza, and reviewed expert opinions on electrical power quality.

The outcome

SPIE received an independent technical basis for assessing defects and risks and prioritising measures for decisions on remedial work and warranty matters, taking ongoing operations into account.

Industrial

During the completion and acceptance of the combine harvester assembly plant, Adam independently assessed construction defects, prioritised safety and operational risks and defined a structured path to completion and acceptance. His work from 2005 to 2007 also included investigations into the causes of damage and the review of remedial work during the warranty period.

Complex construction

During the reconstruction of the Reichstag building from 1997 to 1999, Frank-Michael Adam worked for BAYOSAN Wachter GmbH & Co. KG as an external technical adviser on the interior plasterwork. His contribution covered building condition assessments, quality assurance during construction, technical evaluations and the recording of evidence across approximately 40,000 m² of interior plasterwork.

Germany · 1989–1990 · Military infrastructure

As the responsible staff officer on the client side, Adam initiated a method for rapidly repairing military airfield pavements without relocating the air unit. Preparatory work and method development in 1989 were followed by the first field trial at Drewitz Military Airfield in 1990. It covered five damaged areas within 14 days and confirmed the method’s practical viability. He now draws on this experience of client responsibility, technical development and practical testing when advising project leaders.

Research foundations

Scientific work provides a foundation for practical judgement: construction technologies and materials; technical diagnostics and monitoring; and waste-to-energy and high-temperature pyrolysis. Reconstruction and international knowledge transfer form a further area of academic work.

Technology & innovation

Frank-Michael Adam has worked on waste-to-energy and high-temperature pyrolysis for many years. This work combines technology development, scientific publications and concepts for international applications, particularly the recovery of energy from municipal solid waste. A German patent application was filed in 2026. Technical details are presented only in limited form before the application’s official publication.
